![]() Of course, at the ends, where the bracket meets, there is a recess for the rivet and the Rex tool wouldn't work, so did it by hand. The Rex tool did neat job of flattening the split rivet firmly. Oh yea, on past posts there was mention and pics of using the 'Rex' rivet tool for trans band relining, well I went and got one off eBay and had to test it outįitted split brass rivet into lining, pre-drilled hole as this lining is too stiff to stick the rivet as with kevlar or cotton. Using the old length of lining for a guide, marked where the new lining should fit, leaves a gap at each end of the shoe, you don't want excess material anywhere.Ĭut the new material to lengths with the bench jig saw. The new lining overhangs a bit, so you grind that off as the last step. Shoes with new Model A brake lining material. ![]() So to reline I got the Model A Ford new emergency lining material, its tough with brass wire in the stiff material, fake asbestos I guess But the lining is a tad too wide, so you have to modify. The shoes had one piece of old lining, still stuck with the split rivet in the material. So today I did the re-ling and took pics of the steps. These are made of strap steel and have brake lining, better than the new repro that have lined iron casting that don't fit good.
